history of LANVIN

Jeanne Lanvin founded a hat shop in Paris, France, in 1889. Jeanne was born in 1867 and passed away in 1946. She began making kids’ clothing after making a dress for her daughter. Afterwards, she also began creating women’s dresses. It has developed into a luxury brand including womenswear, menswear, accessories, bags and perfumes. Jeanne’s departure was succeeded by many designers representing each decade, including Claude Montana. In 2001, Alber Elbaz became the artistic director. Men’s design was led by Lucas Ossendrijver under Elbaz’s direction. With Elbaz, who had experience working in Yves Saint Laurent, the brand regained its position as a highly praised maison. From 2019 Bruno Sialelli, who has experience working for Loewe and Balenciaga, serves as their artistic director, with his fresh, modern approach to the brand.
