Salvatore Ferragamo was founded in 1927 in Florence, Italy. Salvatore made his first shoes at the age of 9 and opened a shoe store at home at the age of 11. At the age of 15, he traveled to the United States, and in 1919, when he opened a shoe repair and made-to-order shop in Santa Barbara, California, he received attention in an instance. Many Hollywood actresses were known to be his customer, giving him the title “shoemaker to the stars”. Subsequently, Salvatore studied human anatomy at the University of Southern California, which in the future helped him understand how to make comfortable shoes for the human feet. After returning to Italy, the brand grew to serve for princes, noblemen, and celebrities. After Salvatore’s death, the company expanded into a total brand of clothing, bags, perfumes, and other products under family management. After 2000, the company setup a position of a designer, while also inheriting the brand’s spirit. Since 2017, Paul Andrew has been in charge of all creative direction.
