VIVIENNE WESTWOOD

Vivienne Westwood was born in 1941 in Derbyshire, England. In 1971, she opened her shop “LET IT ROCK” on 430 Kings Road in London, together with her partner Malcolm McLaren. The shop continues to exist after many name changes varying from “SEX”, “Seditionaries” and the “World’s End”. She decided to become a fashion designer after experiencing design and manufacturing during her time at the shop. It is a well-known episode that the youngsters who were the shop’s frequent customer later debuted as the “Sex Pistols”, with Vivienne’s encouragement. She is also known as the queen of punk, and at the same time she has worked on environmental issues through fashion from early times. In 1983, she joined Paris fashion week. Currently her third husband Andreas is in charge of her first line, produced as “Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood”.
