STELLA McCARTNEY

The brand was founded by Stella McCartney in 1995. Stella was born in 1971, the child of former Beatles Paul McCartney. She interned for Christian Lacroix, and acquired skills working in Savile Row for a number of years. She graduated Central Saint Martins in 1995. After two season of her debut collection, she was assigned creative director of French maison Chloé, committing to the brand’s development. In 2001 she left Chloé to establish her own company as a joint venture with Gucci Group (now known as Kering). A lifelong vegetarian, McCartney does not use any leather or fur in her designs since her debut. She is committed to environmental activities, and is one of the key person in sustainable fashion. After the brand’s independence from Kering, the brand held partnership with LVMH group. Stella is now also the group’s special advisor for sustainability.
